THE LINE!

The basis of all art is the line is the primary means of expression - a straight line, a curved line, lines at various angles or intersecting lines.

Lines can be used to create various shapes or simply treated as an independent form in the creation of an artwork.

Examining the Actions That Lead to Abstraction

Fifteen Artists to Be Featured in "AbstrACTION" Process Show

From May 14th, through August 15th,ArtsWestchester will present AbstrACTION, an exhibition that reveals a new approach to how artists create abstract work. AbstrACTION, will be on view at The Arts Exchange, the headquarters of ArtsWestchester, at 31 Mamaroneck Avenue in downtown White Plains, from May 15th through August 15th The exhibition is free and open to the public, except for a special preview "ArtsBash" party (tickets required) that has been scheduled for May 14th from 6-9 p.m. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 12-5 p.m. For tickets to the ArtsBash Preview Party, or for more information, call (914) 428-4220 or visit www.artswestchester.org.

AbstrACTION is curated by independent curator Dara Meyers-Kingsley. A specialist in contemporary art, Ms. Meyers-Kingsley most recently curated the critically acclaimed exhibition "Inner and Outer Space," at the Mattress Factory in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A former Director of Film and Video Collections at the Andy Warhol Foundation, Ms. Meyers-Kingsley has also curated exhibitions at LA MOCA, MCA Chicago, the New Museum, and the Brooklyn Museum.
